1910 Austro-Daimler Prince Henry

Austro-Daimler produced three Model 27/80 cars for use in the German Alpine Trial called the "Prinz Heinrich Trial" (Prince Henry) of 1910. Each car was powered by an impressive 95 hp 5.714 litre engine designed by Daimler's technical designer the great Ferdinand Porsche.

The Prince Henry Trial

The Austro-Daimler Model 27/80 cars were fitted with the a SOHC 95hp 5.714 litre engine and raced in the German alpine "Prince Henry Trial" of 1910, finishing in first, second and third places, the wining car was driven by Ferdinand Porsche himself.

In to commercial production

The Model 27/80 cars success in the 1910 alpine race lead to the name Prince Henry being given to the car when in went into commercial production in the following year, it could be supplied fitted with the original 95hp 5.714 litre engine or a more docile one also deigned by Ferdinand Porsche of 6.9 litres which produced 60hp.
