The 1908 French Grand Prix All three cars were entered in the race, 'Floretta', the long wheelbase car, suffered a gearbox failure on lap two and was forced to retire, both the other two cars completed the race achieving positions eleven and twenty. Unfortunately the Itala Grand Prix cars power to weight ratio was not good enough to compete equally with the top competitors entries. Over the next few years the cars were raced at various locations, this included the famous English Brooklands race track where in 1910 "Floretta" was recorded lapping the dangerous "Outer Circuit" at over 100 mph. |
